WHATEVER IT TAKES!
BIG BACK GRIPS USER PROFILE INTERVIEW: JORDAN EDGE
BBG: First, can you tell people how you met the people from Big Back Grips. It’s kind of a funny story.
Jordan Edge: Sure. We had a mutual Facebook friend and I sent a chat message asking about Big Back Grips. And it turned out you would be sponsoring the NPC North Carolina State Championships High Point and I live really close. And one week later, me and my friend Michael ended up working with you guys at the booth at show. It was fun. First time I ever did something like that.
BBG: And you have been a BBG convert ever since. What did you use before BBGs and why did you settle on BBGs? How do they help your workout?
Interview Questions
Jordan Edge: I used gloves and straps before i used Big Back Grips. The reason i settled on BBGs is because it gives you an amazing workout. BBGs help in many ways – they help your grip and let you train in a well-controlled manor. Helps you lift heavier and more reps.
Your hands never get sweaty like they would with gloves. And when you get done with them you just tuck them in your shorts.
BBG: Ok, so, tell us a little about yourself: your name, background, where you grew up, where you went to school and for what. What do you do professionally? A mini-bio, if you will.
Jordan Edge: Well, my name is Jordan Kyle Edge. I’m 19 years old. I was born in England but grew up in a small town in Caswell County in NC. I went to Bartlett Yancey High School. Right now I am currently working at a paint store called Danville Paint Supply In Danville VA. I also have the best girlfriend ever – Jordan Elizabeth Dallas – and she supports me all the way when it comes to bodybuilding. Also my mom Lisa and my dad Ondre are a big reason I do what I do and have accomplished what I have accomplished. I looked up to bodybuilding from a pretty young age. But it wasn’t until I turned 17 that I started lifting though. When I first picked up a weight I fell in love fast!
BBG: Where do you work out?
Jordan Edge: I have worked out at many different gyms. Caswell County Fitness Center, Body Dynamics, Perfect Body.
BBG: Did you play or excel at any sports?
Jordan Edge: When I was young I played soccer and I boxed. But they never caught my eye like the sport of Bodybuilding.
BBG: What brought you into the world of lifting and when? What are your main goals in bodybuilding?
Jordan Edge: When I was in high school, probably around the age of 17, I started to lift just to gain size and look good. But after not too long I saw results, really fast, and so did my friends. So I started looking into bodybuilding. I looked at different magazines but the guys that caught my eye were Dorian Yates and Jay Cutler, and also Ronnie Coleman.
BBG: What are your biggest accomplishments in your workout history so far? : Titles, personal goals achieved, etc.
Jordan Edge: Three words: “WHATEVER IT TAKES!” My main goal in the sport of bodybuilding is to be the best I can be and hopefully have people look up to me one day. And know that anyone can make their dream happen.
My Biggest Accomplishment in lifting and bodybuilding was in November of 2010 where I entered my first bench press competition. I went in as part of the Teen Division, and I benched 350 lbs. at a bodyweight of 162 lbs. And I got 1st place. I also crossed over into the Men’s Division and got 2nd place.
Alright my second show was when I did bodybuilding and bench press in the same show. That was my first bodybuilding show. I weighed 146 I came 1st in the Teen Class and 2nd in the Men’s Novice. In the bench press, I also benched 315 lbs. at 146lbs and got 1st place. The shows were in Durham, North Carolina.
BBG: What is your workout schedule like?
Jordan Edge:
- Monday: Legs
- Tuesday: Chest and shoulders
- Wednesday: Wednesday is “Big Back Day”
- Thursday: Arms
- Friday is legs again.
BBG: What about your diet?
BBG: What are your favorite exercises or body parts to work? What do you consider is your best body part? Do have a body part that’s especially challenging to make headway on?
Jordan Edge: I do need to work on my legs more. I like really like my working BACK! My favorite is barbell rows and seated cable rows. The body part that I need to work on most is calves.
BBG: If someone were going to work out with you, what are they in for, what’s your workout style? What would you want from a partner?
Jordan Edge: If I work out with someone they will be pushed. I would expect them to not give up easy and really really try. But also depends on what they’re looking for. I have helped a lot of people and they say i have good knowledge when it comes to training. I taught myself everything by studying on myself.
BBG: Do you like helping other people with their training?
Jordan Edge: I love helping other people learn and move closer to their goals.
BBG: What’s your advice to people just starting out?
Jordan Edge: My advice to people starting is this. If you have a dream, go for it. Never let someone tell you that you can’t do something. Give it everything you have. It’s the best sport ever and a lot of people don’t get to live it. ALSO everyone is different and should find a routine that fits there psyche best. And again Whatever it takes.
BBG: Finally, can you give us your workout for just one body part: back or legs, shoulders, chest or arms, even abs. Just pick your favorites.
Jordan Edge: I mentioned I love working back, but I also love working chest.
My chest workout
- Flat barbell
- Decline barbell
- Incline dumbbell or barbell
- Flat flies
- Hammer Strength wide chest.
- I think it’s a good idea to switch off between dumbbells and barbells.
