Milton Kotopoulos

I WANT TO GET AS BIG AS I CAN GET NATURALLY, WHICH IS DEFINITELY ‘MONSTER BIG’ TO ME.

BIG BACK GRIPS USER PROFILE INTERVIEW: MILTON KOTOPOULOS

BBG: Hi Milton. “Milton The Problem Kotopoulos” is your Facebook name. Are you really the problem or is it just a name, your version of The Situation? Because we don’t get the impression you’re much of a problem. You seem like a really nice guy.

MILTON: Hi Big Back Grips! I would say I am not a problem at all. I came up with it with one of my classmates. So I decided to put it on Facebook for a laugh. And yes, it was inspired by The Situation. I appreciate that, Thank you!

BBG: Now you also call yourself Monster Milton. We figure you’re being aspirational. Is it your goal to be “monster big”? How far do you plan to take this? What are your goals as a lifter?

MILTON: Monster Milton is my real nickname. I want to get as big as I can get naturally, which is definitely “monster big” to me. I have competed in two power lifting meets and I plan on doing some teen bodybuilding shows in the future. I just want to be the best lifter I can be, get as big and strong as I can, and improve myself physically and mentally. And overall, live a healthy lifestyle.

Interview Questions

BBG: Like everybody else in this section of the website, you’re an actual user of Big Back Weight Lifting Grips. In fact, you just posted a video of heavy benching with Big Back Grips. What did you use before BBGs and why did you settle on BBGs? How do they help your workout?

MILTON: When I first started lifting I used weightlifting gloves and then I lost them and used nothing except for chalk on my big lifts for powerlifting. I love BBGs and can’t even feel the bar when I am using them and I have so much more control. I really feel like I am working the muscle a lot better with them. My gloves would always stink to and I would have to wash them all the time. I don’t have that problem with BBGs.

BBG: Ok, so, tell us a little about yourself: Your background, where you grew up, where do you go to school? What are your plans after high school?

MILTON: I am a chill, fun dude who loves professional wrestling, bodybuilding, and powerlifting. I grew up in the suburbs of Philadelphia. I go to MN high school. After high school I plan to go to college and powerlift there. And find a job.

BBG: What do you want to do professionally? Or is that still up in the air?

MILTON: Right now I am thinking either a personal trainer, nutritionist, or a sports medicine physician. My dream is to become a pro wrestler and do that for a living.

HEAVY BENCHING WITH BBGS

BBG: What brought you into the world of lifting and when?

MILTON: I was first introduced to lifting in pre-season wrestling workouts. I had always wanted to work out, and that gave me the chance to try it. I was pretty chubby kid so I wanted to change my physique. The first time a touched a barbell I knew it was for me, I loved it. I got a bench with weights for Christmas, stuck with it and eventually got a gym membership.

BBG: Did you play or excel at any sports?

MILTON: I wrestled for three years and played soccer growing up.

BBG: Where do you work out?

MILTON: I work out at a local gym called Sussex Fitness Center.

BBG: What are your biggest accomplishments in your workout history so far? Maximum lifts? Goals achieved?

MILTON: MY biggest goals achieved are breaking four Federation World Records in my two power lifting competitions in squat, bench, deadlift and total. My two best lifts are a 415lb deadlift and a 300lb bench press.

BBG: Who do you admire as a bodybuilder: either for the physique, or character or both?

MILTON: I admire WWE Superstar John Cena for his physique and character. His physique is incredible; he has the perfect size and definition. He is 6’ 1” and weighs 251 pounds. Cena is the definition of hard work and dedication to me. He worked for everything he has, nothing was handed to him. He competed in bodybuilding before becoming a pro wrestler. An awesome quote from his is “Mentally if you want it bad enough, you can go beyond what your body is capable of.”

BBG: What is your workout schedule like?  Do you lift alone or with a partner?

MILTON: I work out 1 ½ – 2 hours a day, 5 days a week. My split is Monday- Chest, Tuesday- Back, Wednesday- Legs Thursday- Shoulders & Traps, Friday- Arms. I hit abs once a week on any of those days and do forearms every arm day. I have a partner that I work out with on some of those days. He likes BBGs and uses them when we lift. I also have some other partners who I work out with once in a while.

BBG: What about your diet?

MILTON: I eat a lot of food that is clean of course. My favorite sources of protein are chicken breast, ground beef, and tilapia. Favorite sources of carbohydrates are oatmeal, sweet potatoes, and brown rice. Favorite sources of fats are peanut butter, canola oil, and any nuts. My favorite greens are lettuce, celery, and broccoli.

BBG: What are your favorite exercises or body parts to work? What do you consider your best body part? Do have a body part that’s especially challenging to make headway on?

MILTON: I am not going to lie; my favorite muscles to work are the beach muscles, arms and chest. My favorite exercises are bench press and bicep curls, barbell or dumbbell. I consider arms my best body part. They have always been pretty big. Legs are definitely the hardest, most grueling days of the week. A body part that is challenging to make headway on is my chest, but it still really does not give me that much of a problem.

BBG: If someone were going to work out with you, what are they in for, what’s your workout style? What do you expect from a partner?

MILTON: They better be ready to do work! High intensity and straight up raw power. I range from low reps, medium reps, and high reps during a workout. I use heavy weight for low reps and light weight for high reps. I utilize a lot of dropsets, supersets, and rest-pause sets.

BBG: What are the most important things you’ve learned from working out? What do you advise other guys just starting out?

MILTON: I learned that through hard work and dedication you can achieve something great that you can really be proud of. Working out helps you physically and mentally. Honestly, it was the greatest decision I ever made. I would advise beginners to gradually start lifting and go up in intensity when you know you’re ready. Always listen to your body. The person that knows the most about you is you. And to always use proper form and weight you can handle on every exercise. Also diet is very important and you should not neglect it. You are minimizing your gains if you are. And most importantly, to never give up and believe in yourself!

BBG: Finally, can you give us your workout for just one body part: back or legs, shoulders, chest or arms, even abs. Just pick your favorites.

MILTON: My favorite body part to work is arms. Here is what I am doing right now for biceps and triceps.

  • Close Grip Bench Press
  • Dumbbell Bicep Curls
  • Dumbbell Tricep
  • Extensions
  • Hammer Curls
  • Reverse Grip
